Canadians Role in the Civil War
Sep. 26, 2017
Canadians in the American Civil WarMike was born and raised in Burlington but has lived in Norfolk County most of his life. He has lived in Waterford since 2007. His interest in the American Civil War goes back to the age of 10 or 11 when he read an article in National Geographic magazine about the Battle of Gettysburg. After seeing the classic fold-out maps accompanying that article, Mike was hooked. He still has that same magazine. Over the years he has toured many Civil War sites across the eastern United States with a special interest in how the topography affected the battles. Towards that end Mike can often be found tromping across fields and climbing over fences on various battlegrounds. He is a member of the Toronto Civil War Round Table where he has presented on two occasions. He is a member of The Friends of Gettysburg a group dedicated to preserving the battlefield, and does volunteer work there with the National Park Service. |

Carolyn Beam, Norfolk General Hospital’s Education Coordinator and Brian Snow, faculty at Simcoe Composite School will be educating you on the Health Science Program offered at Simcoe Composite School in partnership with Norfolk General Hospital. Find out how this program has influenced students in healthcare career choices and even those who may have returned to Norfolk. One other tidbit.
