So why did Mumford and sons choose Simcoe as the only Canadian stop in their Gentlemen of the Road tour?  They spent several months researching and found Simcoe and the Norfolk County Fairgrounds on the Internet.  After 2 or 3 visits and a lot of coaching they chose Simcoe from a list of 200 communities with the following characteristics:

·         Small town with fewer than 100,000 people that needs an economic boost

·         Concert site within easy walking distance from downtown (Fairgrounds)

·         Within 3 hour drive of a major urban area

·         Has an interesting history with music (Rick Danko)

·         A strong community spirit and is totally behind the project

Who really was in charge?  Jason Grant from Live Nation was in charge. Live Nation was host and they rented the Fairgrounds.  Several local organizations jumped on board to help, but there was never any question who was in charge.

How much economic benefit did we get?  The economic impact to Norfolk County is estimated to have been about $10 million.
