An estimated 350 golfers teed off at the Greens of Renton Charity Golf Tournament on Tuesday, July 11. RCNS was one of 27 charities represented at the tournament. Our contribution was to host golfers to the Red 7 hole. Volunteers from RCNS manned that assigned hole in 3 hour shifts from 830 am until 730 pm when the rain stormed in.  See the "Read more .." tab for additional information about the prizes related to our hole and the big winner!
Kudos to the Greensatrenton.com fore (pun intended)  initiating such a great idea and thanks to all the great Rotarians for either golfing or stepping up once again to volunteer their time for such a worthy community support event.

Our hole, Red 7, offered the opportunity for golfers to win $10,000 for a hole in one (unfortunately no lucky golfers hit the mark) but we also had closest to the hole which was achieved early in the day by the second set of golfers through and their hit maintained the rest of the day. Four tickets to our Car Rally were awarded as the prize.  Joanne had to remind one golfer after they teed off that it was closest to the hole not closest to the Rotarian as she quickly jumped out of the way. In the case of Red 7, the winner was Brian Rizzetto, who was genuinely thankful for the complementary pass to the car rally we are planning for this fall. He also received the Red Green's at Renton hoodie as part of his prize.

Golf is a very social game and you could see everyone was enjoying their day which for the most part offered beautiful weather. But Gail Catherwood, Gail Bouw and Carol Mummery were left wondering if their ride was going to make it out to the hole in time to pick them and all our paraphernalia up before the rain blew in. I am told they made it with only seconds to spare dashing into the tent. They were such good sports they stayed for dinner too!

Back at the clubhouse there was a silent auction table, a raffle table, a 50/50 draw and food and drink.
