Dear Jim and John,

Warm greetings!

Daniel and me are just back in office after a very fruitful visit to Udhampur. The objectives of the visit were:

·         To brief the management of the hospital and the club about the project and plan the timelines for implementation
·         To recruit a Lead Health Promoter and orient the person to implement the action plan for the 1st month

Both objectives were successfully delivered. We have in collaboration with the Rotary Hospital and Club recruited Mr. Gulzar for the position of Lead Health Promoter. Gulzar is a post graduate and has over 3 years of experience working in the CSR department of major infrastructure company focussing on health, education and livelihood sectors. Gulzar will join from 9th February 2015.

An action plan for 1 month has been developed jointly and Gulzar will focus on dividing the project intervention area into clusters and recruiting Community Eye Health Workers.

The 1st module training programme is proposed to start from the 16th March and we will officially launch the project with participation from Rotary, Operation Eyesight, District Officials and Politicians in the 1st week of April.

We will be tracking the utilization of funds and Operation Eyesight India Office will submit quarterly utilization reports and fund request in the beginning of every quarter. That is, we will submit the next utilization statement and fund request by the 5th April 2015.

All of us are extremely excited to be working together in this underserved region of the country and wish to thank you all for your support which is making this possible.

I will be happy to answer any queries you may have.

Warm regards,

Santosh
