Five years ago, just as the Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise approached its 14th anniversary, it's members imagine what the club might like when it turned 19 in May 2016 They imagined what the club might be like in 5 years time and set ambitious goals to achieve over the next 5 years. One of the most challenging goals set was to serve a First Nation Community . Although the need was great , we had no idea what we might do or even how to begin. This w...eek, with our 19th anniversary just days away, the club heard a report from Rotarians Jim & Marjorie Dawson on our continuing project to serve the youth of the isolated remote north west First Nation community of Pikangikum. Through the Dawson's initiative, dedication, and leadership Norfolk Sunrise has or the past 3 years supported youth music and canoeing programs helping to give hope to youth in a community which, according to a recent UN report, has the highest suicide rate in the world.
Our vision has turned to reality. Imagine Norfolk Sunrise's vision for 2020 when they turn 24!
