Visiting Scottish Rotary Curlers Make a Donation

Scots 2012 Rotary Curling Team  - an update

The Rotary Club of West Ottawa  recently presented a cheque for $1,500 to the Sandra Schmirler Foundation.  The money was raised by the 2012 Scotland to Canada Rotary Curling Team.  Steve Doty, Treasurer for the Foundation accepted the cheque from Ken Murray and Eric Armstrong representing the Rotary Club of West Ottawa on March 5.   The Scots team competed against and enjoyed  local  fellowship with Rotarians last November.

The Sandra Schmirler Foundation was created in January, 2001 as a legacy to three-time world curling champion and Olympic gold medalist Sandra Schmirler, in recognition and celebration of her love of family. This was a collaborative effort between the Canadian Curling Association, Scott Paper Limited, Sandra’s family and friends.  the Foundation raises and donates funds across Canada for the care of premature and critically ill babies and to help develop future champions through direct funding to junior curlers.
