On Tuesday morning, 28 November, we were privileged to welcome three new members to our club.
Coordinated by our Membership Committee as led by Gail Catherwood and welcomed on our behalves by Assistant Governor Coordinator Ross Gowan, we welcomed Kristine Carey, Lynne Pereira and Andrew Watt. How lucky we are to have these brand-new members as a part of our growing Club
Go to the 'Read more ...' section to see individual photos of our newest members along with their sponsors. Read as well, the very appropriate induction comments as given by Ross to mark this special occasion.

Induction Ceremony Nov 28th 2023 by Ross Gowan – Kristine Carey, Lynne Pereira, Andrew Watt
I’m delighted this morning to formally expand our Rotary Family by inducting 2 new members plus one business member into our club. Gail Catherwood, Membership Chair, please come and help me with the induction.
Would Kristine Carey, Lynne Pereira and Andrew Watt please come and join us here, and bring your sponsors Michele Langedyk and Gail Catherwood with you.
Kristine, Lynne, and Andrew, it’s my distinct pleasure to admit you into membership in the Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise and to the fellowship of Rotary within our Best of Friends District and throughout the world.
New members are the lifeblood of our club.  You bring new ideas, new energy, new friendships, new opportunities for us to serve community, and new hands and feet.  I challenge you to jump in with both feet and make the most of this opportunity to make our club the best it can be in service to our community and to the world around us.  I know that you are already engaged and eager to contribute.
You know that the ideal of Rotary is service. Rotary’s principal motto is “Service Above Self” and the object of this club and all Rotary clubs is to encourage and foster this ideal. You are to share in this effort.
You have each been approved for membership in Rotary because we believe you are interested in serving the people and communities within Norfolk and beyond, and you are willing to do your share to translate the ideals of Rotary into practical solutions that make our world a better place.  You have agreed to accept the obligations attached to your membership in this club, and to obey this club's constitution and bylaws.
Andrew is being inducted as a business member this morning, associated with Zortech Industries. Although we consider you a full-fledged member of Norfolk Sunrise, Andrew, and will hold you accountable for the responsibilities that come with being a member of Norfolk Sunrise, as far as Rotary International is concerned you are an associate of Paul Zorad who is the member of Rotary International. Unfortunately, Paul is unable to be with us this morning.
Now, Gail will present Kristine and Lynne with a packet of Rotary literature. Two documents in your package are the Object of Rotary and the Four-Way Test, which together form the criteria for Rotarians in their daily lives. I trust you will read these carefully.
One of the Objects of Rotary is high ethical standards, which is one thing that many believe sets Rotary apart from other service clubs. I charge you to judge yourself by the Rotary Four-Way Test - of the things you think, say or do:
Is it the Truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
Now your sponsor will attach your Rotary pin, which we expect you to wear regularly and with pride.
Lynne, Kristine and Andrew, welcome to the Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise!
Fellow Rotarians and guests, this morning before we depart from Riversyde, please personally welcome Kristine, Lynne and Andrew with open arms, bringing them into the fellowship and the work of our Rotary family.
Lynne and Kristine will be presenting their personal story to us in a couple of weeks, but this morning Andrew is going to give us a bit of his personal journey.
