History:

The Welshpool Exchange program started in 1997 as a friendship exchange between two Rotary Clubs; The Rotary Club of Welshpool located in Welshpool, Wales and The Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise located in Simcoe, Canada.  The exchange started as an opportunity for students from the local areas to travel overseas for approximately 10 days.

Each year, the students from Welshpool travel to Norfolk, Canada during the month of October while the students from Norfolk travel to Welshpool during the March break.

Each year there are 6 students selected from local high schools.  To qualify, the student must be between the ages of 16 and 18 years old at the time of travel.

Approximate cost is $1000 (includes flight, travel to/from the airport, tour in London, England) plus, spending money for personal items.
All other expenses (meals, accommodation, train to London, entry to all events, travel during your stay) are paid for by the two Rotary Clubs.
Your family will be asked to host a Welsh student in October, although it is not mandatory. (Reciprocal hosting ensures a ‘whole experience’ for each student and allows them to get to know each other better.)
