CTA Lisc#7 - The Ace is Caught Just 20 Weeks In | Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise

Lucky number 7 turned out to be true for the most recent winner of the Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrises (RCNS) Catch the Ace held weekly at the Port Dover Legion. Shirley Shaw who wasn’t in attendance Friday, October 20^th had her ticket drawn and had preselected her lucky number 7 and when the envelope was opened the Ace of Spades was contained within. Shirley won $500 dollars for having her ticket drawn that week and a further $15,000 for catching the Ace. The event has the potential to go up to 40 weeks at which point tickets are drawn until the Ace is found but Shirley got lucky at the mid way point. Shirley is well known to the RCNS as the club had previously awarded her a Paul Harris Fellow for her outstanding volunteer work in the community. Shirley is most known for her decades of work with the local Special Olympics Club.

When Shirley was contacted and presented with her winnings at her home, she stated that she had just purchased a new furnace and that the winnings couldn’t have come at a better time.

This event takes many volunteers to make it happen every week. A big thank you goes out to the Port Dover Legion for hosting and helping with ticket sales, all the volunteer ticket sellers and most of all to those of you who continue to support this RCNS fundraiser by purchasing a ticket. All of the funds raised at this event are spent within the Norfolk community.
