On Tuesday morning, 04 Nov 2025, we welcomed Chris Clackett as our Guest Speaker (by Zoom). David Douglas introduced Chris who spoke about the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum (CWHM) where he is a volunteer tour guide.
Formed as a non-profit corporation in 1973, the museum houses more than 45 aircraft, 11 of which are operational. Members of the museum can book flights in the operational aircraft throughout the summer. With more than 300 volunteers, the Museum welcomes about 50,000 visitors each year as well as about 15,000 students for educational programs. They host an indoor Remembrance Day event each November 11, with attendance of 2000. Chris also showed video clips from the memorable Lancaster visit to England in 2014 to fly alongside the Lancaster housed there.
Museum Member Lisa Bishop thanked Chris for his presentation.
Notes on Chris are given at the ‘Read more …’ tab at the end of this note. More information related to the CWHM is at this link.
Chris comes from an aviation family, where both his father and brother were airline pilots. He completed a training program with BOAC where he stayed for a number of years practising in business systems analysis. On leaving the airline industry he subsequently worked in IT and Management Consulting.
Following his retirement, he volunteers as a Tour Guide at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.
