On Tuesday morning, 21 April 2026, Co-Pres Ross Gowan welcomed Marjorie & Jim Dawson, Co-Directors of the D7090 Honouring Indigenous Peoples (HIP) group as our special guest speakers, They were accompanied (on Zoom) by students Rahaf Rifa and Lexi Rose. All joined us at our hybrid (ie live attendance at R83 with zoom remote attendance) morning meeting session.
The Dawson's presentation was preceded by Rahaf & Lexi, both of whom gave their personal reflections on the nature of the event, that which they took from it, and what they were planning on doing with the experience after the fact. Jim & Marjorie followed-up with their own overview, the worth of the RI Global Grant we had acquired, a few additional photos and their sense of the annual event's value. It was a great overview of a most effective venture in the exchange of cultures, beliefs, traditions and history.
Website information describing the National Youth-to-Youth event at Ohsweken is at this linkAt the ‘Read more …’ tab you can view the organizing group as well as a few more photos. After several questions, Co-President Ross Gowan reflected on the passion that the Dawsons demonstrate in promoting indigenous peoples issues and associated youth development and thanked them for bringing us together to add our support.
