Honey Bee Research CentreOn Tuesday morning, 25 March 2025 and on our collective behalves, David Douglas welcomed Prof Paul Kelly, the Research & Apiary Manager at the University of Guelph as our Guest Speaker. At our hybrid (ie live attendance at R83 with zoom remote attendance) session, he spoke to us about many issues related to honey bees and his work in managing the University of Guelph Honey Bee Research Centre. Included in his remarks were points about the species itself, the importance that species holds in our environment, the threats to honey bees and what is being done to counter those threats.
More information about Prof Paul as an individual is enclosed at the "Read more ..." tab whilst more general info about the state of Bumble Bees in Canada may be found by clicking here.
As an interesting aside, Prof Paul noted that a brand-new Honey Bee Research Centre was about to be opened at the University next week - and event to be very excited about.
After a full question period, Paul Zorad offered Prof Paul our appreciation for a great presentation ("if you really enjoy what you do as much as you do; is it really work!?") as well as our recognition for his ongoing work and success in promoting what was described as "the most important insect on the planet".
